FIRST THAILAND–ARMENIA BILATERAL MEETING ON COOPERATION IN CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY

From 20 to 25 July 2026, a delegation headed by Armen Kotolyan, Head of the Market Surveillance Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia, visited Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand, at the invitation of the Office of the Consumer Protection Board of Thailand (OCPB).

During the visit, the parties discussed matters related to consumer rights protection, non-food product safety, market surveillance, digitalization, e-commerce, the application of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and the development of international cooperation.

The delegation headed by Armen Kotolyan presented the activities and key areas of supervision of the Market Surveillance Inspection Body, while the Thai side outlined its work in the field of consumer protection and the challenges it currently faces. The parties discussed opportunities to exchange information on unsafe products, improve risk-management systems, strengthen professional capacities and share expertise and best practices.

The bilateral meeting also addressed prospects for expanding cooperation between Armenia and Thailand, including opportunities to facilitate the entry of Armenian products into Asian markets.

One of the key outcomes of the visit was the proposal by Thailand’s Office of the Consumer Protection Board to initiate the process of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Market Surveillance Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia and the OCPB. The parties also discussed a potential visit by the Thai side to Armenia to further advance their cooperation.

The parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue their cooperation and contribute to the implementation of international best practices in product safety and market surveillance.
